Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions we are commonly asked:
Will the level of my No-Dig Garden sink over time?
Yes. This is completely normal and a sign of good composting. There are a number of options to remedy the sinking as you experience it.
Where can I see one of Brads No-dig Gardens on display?
There is a completed 750mm X 3000mm on display at Sylvania Par 3 Golf Course, Belgrave Esplanade, Sylvania.
I’d like one of the gardens, but not sure if the area I have in mind is suitable?
We require a reasonably flat area and can be grown on concrete but must get at least 5 hours’ sunlight per day. There must be a hose connected to a nearby tap available. Give me a call to talk about your exact requirements.
Is treated pine safe to use for vegetable gardens?
The CSIRO say the potential ingestion of arsenic from treated timber is within tolerable limits and say it can be used around vegetable gardens. Burke’s backyard fact sheet (February 2009) states, “Relax, treated pine is safe to use in garden, there is little credible scientific evidence that when used as an edging material for garden beds, that it leaches arsenic into the soil. My gardens are lined with black builders plastic as a extra preventative/precautionary measure or if you prefer to pay a little extra and get your garden built using the new ACQ treated pine.
